CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Downtown Chico turned festive on Nov. 23 when the Christmas Preview kicked off the holiday season for local shops as the Chico Community Concert Band played and dance groups performed while Broadway was closed to traffic (the event united residents). The annual tradition, which began in 1978, will continue with a Christmas tree lighting on December 5 (local shoppers and families are excited). Action News Now

- ➤ Residents in Butte County may burn on Sunday and Monday if they follow local permit rules—Paradise burning needs a Paradise Fire Department permit, Upper Ridge and Magalia allow burning from 8:45 a.m. until one hour before sunset, and burning is prohibited within Chico city limits while allowed on large lots in the Chico Sphere of Influence; agricultural burns also require proper permits with wind speeds from 0 to 10 mph and moderate to good air quality reported.
