- ➤ Yesterday, a Chico State student was recovering after falling three stories from a building while firefighters extinguished an early morning fire that destroyed two travel trailers in Magalia — police activated red light cameras at a fourth intersection. City officials plan to clear out homeless camps near City Hall and will update the community soon. Action News Now
- ➤ The annual Run for Food event will support the Jesus Center—an organization that helped nearly 750 people this year—with over 4,400 participants registered as of Monday. Registration is open at Fleet Feet until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, will resume today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on the event morning at One Mile Recreation Area—with Thursday morning sign-ups not being timed. - ➤ AAA spokesperson Doug Johnson told local drivers that nearly 82 million people will travel this Thanksgiving and about 90% will drive, with Tuesday and Wednesday expected to be the busiest while Thanksgiving Day should see lighter traffic. He recommended that motorists check their car batteries and tire pressure and delay leaving between noon and 8 p.m. to avoid congestion (Chico gas averages around $4.28 per gallon, slightly lower than last year). - ➤ PG&E will start replacing wooden utility poles with new steel ones 180–200 feet south of their current location between Walmart and a car dealership on December 3, a project funded by Walmart to improve infrastructure. The work will require brief lane closures on Highway 99 and an all-day closure of the east bicycle path on Sunday morning as PG&E coordinates with CHP and Caltrans. Action News Now
