COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Cottonwood Community Church invites everyone to join a free Christmas dinner on Christmas Day at the Cottonwood Community Center on Gas Point Road. Dinner is served from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with no RSVP needed.  Action News Now

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Guzzetti’s Indian Food Market will close its West 14th Street storefront on Tuesday — its catering and meals will still be offered at the Chico Farmer’s Market. Owner Deepika Tandon thanked the community for 18 years of support after a five-year run.  Action News Now

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Lake Oroville water levels rose 23 feet between Saturday, Dec. 20 and Tuesday, Dec. 23 after heavy storms increased runoff. A flood watch remains in effect through Friday — with high winds expected to create additional hazards.  Action News Now
  • PG&E said they have more than 5,500 workers ready to respond as strong winds and heavy rain threaten power lines and outdoor items until 4 p.m. Thursday — crews will repair damages while a flood watch remains in effect through Friday afternoon.  Action News Now

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • PG&E will deploy 5,500 workers for two winter storms expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds this holiday week; the first storm will hit Tuesday and the second Wednesday while customers can check the outage tracker (online) for updates and safety tips.  KRCR
  • Chico public works officials are removing debris and picking up leaves today from Lindo Channel and Big Chico Creek to prevent flooding during the storm — the diversion system is working well and no road closures are expected as crews stand by.  Action News Now
  • Chico city crews are preparing for upcoming winter storms by trimming trees, clearing debris, and maintaining storm drains (measures aim to reduce flooding risks) while monitoring roads for falling branches and advising residents to secure holiday decorations.  Action News Now
