- ➤ A storm caused a power outage that affected more than 4,000 residents downtown on Christmas Eve. PG&E said crews responded to emergencies and will begin repairs once conditions improve. KRCR

- ➤ Michael Nelson said he woke up at 4:30 a.m. yesterday and found a tree had fallen on his roof and fence + his power and water were not affected, so he planned to remove it himself. Action News Now
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A strong thunderstorm with winds over 30 mph and pea-size hail will impact nearby areas including Chico today, so residents should secure outdoor items and avoid flooded roads as heavy rain and flooding risk continue this week. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Cal Fire Butte County’s water rescue team is preparing for rescues along the river in Chico and in the county’s south part + heavy rain forecast this weekend may lead to rising flood risks. Action News Now
- ➤ CHP advises holiday travelers today to drive safely as a strong thunderstorm and high winds may affect the region, including areas like Corning where families are on the road. Travelers should plan ahead because moderate to heavy rain and gusty winds are expected. Action News Now
- ➤ This holiday, CHP urges drivers to slow and check chain ratings as a thunderstorm moves north near Nord, 9 miles west of Chico with winds up to 30 mph and small hail. A Flood Watch and High Wind Warning are in effect—commuters should plan travel carefully. Action News Now
