- ➤ The True North Housing Alliance’s Howard Slater Navigation Center will be completed in August and is set to open this Fall in Chico to offer expanded on-site services for people in need after receiving a $6 million state grant — the project still must close a $450,000 fundraising gap and address lost federal funding challenges. - ➤ The City of Chico will invite residents to shape downtown’s future at a community workshop scheduled for Monday, May 12 at 6:00 p.m. at the City Council Chambers—where project goals will be detailed—and attendees can share ideas on upgrading traffic, parking, safety, and aging underground infrastructure. - ➤ The Home Depot Foundation is investing $5.5 million to support disaster preparedness and fire recovery in Butte County—this grant will help Habitat for Humanity rebuild at least eight homes and train local staff through a wildfire preparedness program. Action News Now

- ➤ The Chico Police Department is asking for help to locate 25-year-old Agustin Vega *who has not been seen since last Thursday near West Sacramento Avenue and Nord Avenue*. Action News Now
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Today the Chico City Council will discuss a new emergency ordinance that will regulate outdoor warming appliances—fireplaces, barbeques and fire pits—to reduce wildfire risks amid safety concerns linked to 104 confirmed homeless-related fires. If approved, the ordinance will require a city permit for barbeque use in public and private areas and will take effect for 180 days until updated. Action News Now
