- ➤ The Chico Masonic Center on W. East Avenue will host a free Show and Shine with the Shriners Hamburger and Bean Feed on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.—locals can display their car, truck or motorcycle at the event. Action News Now
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Jose Alvarado-Rodriguez, a 50-year-old man from Chico, pleaded no contest to charges of attempted kidnapping and rape—he accepted a 36-year prison term to stop teenage victims from testifying and will return to court on July 9. Action News Now
- ➤ A man was shot in the foot after a fight on Saturday night near 3rd and Normal Ave. in downtown Chico — he was taken to a nearby hospital and police are investigating the incident. KRCR
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Friday, City of Chico crews will hand out seven-day notices at three sites where homeless people have been camping, as part of the city's efforts to manage these areas. Action News Now

- ➤ William Carroll began his studies at Chico State and went on to lead childhood cancer research as emeritus director at NYU Langone Health. He was named the 2025 Distinguished Career Award winner by the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology (a recognition he credits to his team). Chico State Today
