- ➤ Families in Butte Meadows are keeping a cherished tradition alive by paying $10 for permits to cut down live Christmas trees from public land in Lassen National Forest and driving six miles to Jonesville; the Butte Meadows Mercantile and Resort hosts Winterfest 2025 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and tomorrow. - ➤ A Butte County fundraiser, Rise Jamaica: Unity for Families Gathering—scheduled for December 6 from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Chico Women's Club—will raise funds for food, clean water, clothing, hygiene items, generators and rebuilding materials for Jamaican families hit by Hurricane Melissa.
